Benediktus Yohan, Eijkman Institute’s young scientist from Dengue Unit received the 24th Indonesia Toray Scientific Research Grant (ITSRG). The award given by Indonesia Toray Scientific Foundation (ITSF) is an annual award given to Indonesia’s best scientists with outstanding research proposal selected by the Selection Committee. The Head of the Selection Committee for ITSRG, Prof. Dr. Ir. Dedi Fardiaz, M.Sc. reported that 18 scientists from institutes/universities in Indonesia received the 24th ITSRG grants, for a total cumulative of approximately 700 million Rupiah.
The Executive Vice President of Toray Industries, Inc., Japan, Mr. Kazushi Hashimoto handed the ITRSG award to Benediktus Yohan.
The award ceremony, held on 6 March 2018, was preceded by a seminar and results presentation by previous grants awardees on the following day. The ceremony was opened by speech from Prof. Dr. Bambang Soehendro, Director of Indonesia Toray Science Foundation. The award ceremony was also attended by Dr. Muhammad Dimyati from Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education of the Republic of Indonesia and His Excellency Mr. Masafumi Ishii, Japan Ambassador to Republic of Indonesia.
The current achievement added a list of ITSF research grants received by Eijkman’s scientists since 1995 when the ITSF program just started. The awardees and their research topics are listed in the table below.
